Soup Run
Serves hot soup and bread, tea and any other food that has been donated, to anyone who needs it, seven days a week on Brighton seafront locations.
The Soup Run is organised by the St.Vincent de Paul Society and is staffed entirely by volunteers drawn mainly from religious groups of all denominations in the area. HHBC have been involved for the last 12 years and are responsible for resourcing the 30th of every month. We meet at the Sussex Road church car-park at 6.30pm and return at around 9.30pm - transport is available.
We use facilities at St Anne’s Day Centre.
The Brighton Soup Run is just one of many services that works to meet the many needs of homeless people, whether they are sleeping on the streets; living in temporary accommodation, e.g. bed and breakfast hotels, hostels, night shelters and refuges; or living in poor quality accommodation that’s detrimental to their health and well-being.
Being involved in the Brighton Soup Run is a very rewarding work and it’s encouraging to hear accounts of people who do find more lasting solutions to their problems and are now back in decent housing. If you would like to help out on an occasional basis or want to know more about the work, please contact Jeremy Pardoe.
